Lesson Terms & Expectations
This page outlines how lessons are scheduled, paid for, and managed. It’s here to keep things clear, consistent, and sustainable—for both of us.
Rates & Payment
Lessons are $60AUD per session.
You’ll receive an invoice one week before the start of each month.
Payment is due before your first lesson of the month to confirm your place in the schedule.
Lessons are billed monthly, based on how many sessions you’re booked in for that month.
Payments can be made via Bank Transfer or via Card on the day of your first lesson of the month
Late or missed payments may result in your time slot being offered to another students
Cancellations & Make-Up Lessons
If you need to cancel a lesson, please give at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations with sufficient notice will generate a make-up credit, which you can use to reschedule a lesson via your Student Portal (powered by MyMusicStaff).
Make-up credits:
Are for rescheduling only
Cannot be used to skip or reduce future invoices
Should be used in a timely manner (within a few weeks if possible)
Are subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis
Are not refundable if unused
Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed lessons without notice, do not qualify for a make-up credit or refund.
This system is designed to be flexible without becoming chaotic. If rescheduling becomes a regular need, we can discuss adjusting your lesson time.
Scheduling & the Student Portal
Lessons are booked at a regular, weekly day and time.
You’ll have access to a Student Portal where you can:
View your upcoming schedule
Cancel lessons (with 24+ hours’ notice)
Book make-up credits
Access shared materials like charts, recordings, or notes
Using the portal helps everything stay streamlined—no emails or text back-and-forth needed.
Format & Focus
Lessons are shaped around your goals, experience, and interests. Most students I work with are adult learners—people who play music as a hobby, creative outlet, or personal practice.
We focus on:
Tone and feel
How to learn and play songs by ear and other resources
Groove and phrasing
Playing with intention and clarity
Understanding how parts support a song
Lessons move at your pace, with enough structure to support growth and enough flexibility to keep it enjoyable. This is a space for thoughtful, long-term development—no pressure, no ego, just steady progress.
Online Lessons
If you’re learning online:
Please have a reliable internet connection and a quiet space to play.
We’ll use Zoom
A basic camera/mic setup is enough, but I’m happy to help you get set up if you want better audio or visibility.
If I Cancel
If I ever need to cancel a lesson, I’ll let you know as soon as possible and:
Offer a rescheduled time
Or issue a make-up credit you can use at your convenience
Public Holidays
Lessons do not run on public holidays, and monthly invoices are adjusted to reflect that.
If your regular lesson falls on a holiday, that session is not billed and no make-up is needed.
Lesson Materials
Lesson materials, both printed and digital, are intended solely for the student they are created for, and should not be shared or distributed
without permission.
If you’ve read all of this—thank you. These expectations are here to support consistency and clarity, so we can focus on what really matters: your playing, your musical growth, and your enjoyment of the process.
